The Princess Rooney Handicap is an American Grade II Thoroughbred horse race once run annually during the second week of July at Calder Race Course in Miami Gardens but now run at Gulfstream Park,〔(Race changes tracks )〕 Florida, the six furlong sprint on dirt is open to fillies and mares age three-years and older. Named for the U.S. Hall of Fame filly Princess Rooney, it has been a Grade I event since 2006. Inaugurated in 1985, it was contested at a distance of seven furlongs until 1997 when it was modified to its present six furlongs.
